Expanding a global event experience

Google Cloud’s annual Next event brings the global Cloud community together. The goal has been simple: provide a seamless digital experience. Working in partnership with Google on the event since 2017, we delivered a holistic web and mobile experience for attendees, but in 2020, we had to get creative as we pivoted to virtual – including features such as track selections, user directories, and a notification center. Now, Google Next is a fully hybrid experience – delighting both virtual and in-person attendees.

Overview of work

Google Cloud wanted to provide an immersive experience for Next.

To achieve a seamless and flexible event, Google needed robust session booking functionality, simple navigation for hundreds of speakers and sessions, a multi-channel livestream, and a mobile app. 

Our Experience Design and Software Engineering teams partnered closely with Google to ensure that the solution proposed was executed as envisioned by immersing themselves in Google Cloud’s brand, products, design, and code standards. Nerdery's commitment to Google’s standard for clean code as a baseline security measure helped us routinely pass security and accessibility tests.
