Minneapolis, August 22, 2014 – Security B-Sides MSP is pleased to announce the 2nd Security B-Sides Conference will be held at The Nerdery Saturday, August 23 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Attendance is free with registration, however, it’s “sold” out – with tickets snapped up by more than 200 security experts, hackers and business stakeholders with online security interests.
This year’s event has retired LtCol William Hagestad II as the keynote speaker presenting “Chinese Use of the Computers & Networks as a Strategic Weapon System” at 9:30 a.m. Additional highlights of the conference include; security presentations, an educational track on cryptography, a public key signing event, a capture the flag challenge, and AED/CPR Education. The full schedule of events can be seen at: https://www.bsidesmsp.org/schedule-of-events/
Security B-Sides is the "B" Side to traditional Information Security events. This is where weird hacker stuff goes on that cannot possibly fit into other conferences because it would never pass committee. B-Sides is a conference where everyone is made to feel welcome, everyone is encouraged to participate, recruiters can discover and speak frankly with talent, salespeople are technical, and everyone has the opportunity to grow and learn.
“The entire Security B-Sides MSP team are proud of our sponsors and contributors, for without them the event could not happen,” said Michael Haffely, Marketing and Communications Coordinator of B-Sides MSP. “We are excited that The Nerdery sees the value of the Security B-Sides MSP conference and we hope to continue this relationship for many years.”
“If you watch the news or simply don’t live in a cave, current events tell you that online security is a big deal – and it’s only going to get bigger,“ said Nerdery President Tom O’Neill. “Data is power, but protecting data can feel powerless, so we’re glad to provide common grounds for the security community and the business community to learn from each other as we share ideas.”
