Uniting Tastefully Simple’s User Needs with Business Goals
Improving the experience for the soul
of a business
When Tastefully Simple came to us, the majority of its website focused on food and gift packaging. However, the company’s primary revenue generator was its in-home party experience.
They needed a partner to evolve the online experience to support and grow their business — putting the party experiences hosted by a nationwide community of consultants front and center.
Bringing the party online
In order to better understand the party experience and discover more about users’ processes and concerns, we conducted several user research studies. This research informed which features to design and develop, and how the site would be architected. Competitive analysis and mobile research trends provided additional insights in the discovery phase.
There was a hefty list of functionality and features that were critical to the well-loved brand’s site, as well as challenging data integration issues. Together, Nerds and the Tastefully Simple stakeholders formed a strong partnership and built a new, responsive online experience that allowed users — on any device — to easily create parties, share recipes, interact with consultants and rate and review products.
Increasing sales and building community
The launch of the new TastefullySimple.com proved to be a success within the first month: the number of people joining the online community doubled from 6,000 to 11,000. Due to the site's responsiveness, mobile traffic increased by 15 percent.
The added features and functionality also led to increased sales, with $150 more spent per party, a 15 percent increase in e-commerce conversations and nearly 5 percent more spent on each average online order. The site is now a go-to destination for users looking to build a party around delicious food.
