Our agency partner Toth + Co wanted to create an application for their client Johnston & Murphy, a manufacturer and retailer of high quality shoes worldwide, that would enable users to find places to shine their shoes. Supplying the vision and artwork, they turned to The Nerdery to develop an application for a full suite of Apple and Android devices that would seamlessly fold their objectives into an easy-to-use, interactive map.
With an eye on speed to market, The Nerdery worked quickly to get the initial builds done and in front of Toth + Co to streamline the initial approval. The implementation of a third-party location mapping services was given thorough analysis based on research and utilized to fit timing and scope. Citysearch API and Google Mapping technologies were combined to make the final project.
Given a location - taken either from the GPS of a user’s phone or entered via city - the application generates a map with the location and distances to nearby shoe-shining establishments. Each establishment has its own profile which users are able to rate on a five star basis. Additionally, users have the ability to add shoe shiners - hereby growing the database of shiners continuously.
This completed app provided a handy way to create a branded experience that would work as a way to promote not only their stores, but shoe shining in general.
