Zeus Jones and Sierra Bravo Win Phizzpop Minneapolis

Partners to compete next at SXSW Interactive in Austin, TX

Sierra Bravo partnered with Zeus Jones to win Phizzpop Minneapolis, a web development competition created by Microsoft. Five teams of three web pros were given the same business challenge and a few days to come up their own online solution using Microsoft interactive design technology.

Sierra Bravo made Phizpopp history by accepting invitations to join competing teams. “Phizzpop lets Sierra Bravo publicly showcase our most essential capability: partnering with ad, marketing and design agencies to make their creative vision live and breathe online,” said Tom O’Neill, Sierra Bravo’s vice president of software development. “With two of our programmers invited to join two different teams, we liked our chances.”

Sierra Bravo’s Jeff Klawiter worked with MOOV — even crashing on the agency’s office couch for two nights before Phizzpop. Sierra Bravo’s Greg Wurm joined Christian Erickson and Chad Hancock from Zeus Jones, a Minneapolis interactive marketing firm. Zeus Jones has previously engaged Sierra Bravo for multiple projects for its end clients.

Tweeted Zeus’ Erickson, “I might be the last person to tweet this but we won Phizzpop Minneapolis. I said this city would represent, and it did big time. Thanks to Sierra Bravo for lending Greg to our team. You guys rock – even though you hedged your bets with 2 teams!”

The Zeus Jones/Sierra Bravo win earns the team a trip to the Phizzpop finals in March at SXSW Interactive in Austin, Texas to take on regional champs from Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco.

More tweets: “ZJ phizzpop was awesome. Sierra Bravo comes through again…. Nice work MPLS” — Peter A Petrulo, Zeus Jones

Space 150, Hanson, and frequent Sierra Bravo Partner Colle+McVoy also competed in the Minneapolis Phizzpop on January 15 at Solera.
