Western Nevada Supply Deploys Sierra Bravo's B2B Online Store
Western Nevada Supply, headquartered in Sparks, Nevada, launches Sierra Bravo’s B2B Online Store to provide online ordering and account information to its Plumbing, HVAC, and Irrigation customers. The site can be viewed online at www.wns1.com.
Sierra Bravo’s product was carefully selected by Western Nevada Supply to provide their customers with an online ordering solution that provides accurate pricing, inventory information and account information. Sierra Bravo’s unique solution offered real-time access to Western Nevada’s existing D3-based wholesale-distribution package running on an IBM RS/6000.
Like many wholesale distributors, Western Nevada has a complex pricing system integrated into their sophisticated distribution software package. Finding an online ordering solution that would not require duplicating the price matrices and would provide up-to-the-second product availability was paramount to the selection process.
“Companies like Western Nevada have a difficult time finding a package that integrates their web site to their business system with complete accuracy. Our objective is to provide such a seamless integration that our customer can trust the system to create orders directly into the business system flawlessly,” explains Luke Bucklin, President of Sierra Bravo Corporation. “Our B2B Online Store ties into the business system so completely that picking tickets print in the appropriate warehouse while the web user is viewing their order confirmation. This level of integration is difficult to find from a third-party vendor,” continues Bucklin.
Sierra Bravo makes this type of integration possible by incorporating their web application development skills with their knowledge of mature, character-based business systems. Their ability to develop software in a variety of legacy computing environments along with their expertise in modern application development technologies allows Sierra Bravo to provide solutions that meet the demands of progressive wholesale distributors such as Western Nevada Supply.
“We started by integrating our base online store package into their distribution system and then added several enhancements, such as viewing signatures captured at the point of delivery and allowing customers to pay open invoices online. Even this addition is so tightly integrated that the cash-receipt process is automatically handled by the application requiring no dual-entry of information,” says Bucklin. “At the end of the day we were able to save Western Nevada Supply time and money by re-using the business rules in the existing application to provide accurate and immediate information to the customer.”
