For several months the Nerdery was abuzz as we built - and kept - Fallon's well-kept secret - Skimmer - which launched to much fanfare from the ad and interactive trades. Now it can be told that Skimmer was co-created by umpteen of our web developers, working in tune with Fallon.
The end result is the most advanced Adobe AIR app yet - a lifestreaming application pooling Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Blogger, and YouTube. Skimmer essentially populates the online public face of Fallon.com with content generated by employee's social media activiies. Skimmer is available as a free download for social media users on Fallon's site.
"On our web site, Skimmer turns our brand into a living, breathing entity, continually expressed on a moment-to-moment basis in words, design, and multimedia by our people," said Rob Buchner, chief marketing officer, Fallon. "This allows us to live and communicate our brand as authentically as possible in connection with the world at large. For others, Skimmer is a lifestream. For Fallon, it is a brandstream."
For a bunch of web nerds, we're feeling fairly fortunate to have agency partners whose big ideas we get to build.
As web partners, we live in the intersection where form meets function. Having partnered with Fallon on several of their client's interactive projects, we play to each others strengths with barely a wasted keystroke.
