The Nerdery and agency partners Liquid Thread (formerly Pixel) created iPhone and Blackberry apps dubbed "Make a Mess" for Delta Faucet, allowing SmartPhone users to simulate washing away a mess - or masterpiece - they'd fingerpainted.

We implemented drawing algorithms for each platform, designing an experience that - while familiar to users on each platform - is similar enough to maintain continuity between the platforms.

The iPhone application had challenges in that we chose to use OpenGL for the drawing algorithm, and we had to deal with the small memory available on the iPhone.  The BlackBerry was the biggest challenge as there isn't a rich community around building applications, so a lot of the features found in most development environments simply weren't there - they had to be cooked from scratch.

Liquid Thread was motivated to release a polished and stable product. We presented wireframes, ideas, designs and beta software. They responded back with great feedback, which made the entire project a very organic process.

As hardware affects software, there had to be small tweaks to IA. We mapped functionality per screen and flow and delivered wireframes, mockups, and ultimately, three apps. Make a Mess and agency partners Liquid Thread were finalists for a MOBI Best Mobile App for Advertising.

This project was a unique challenge and I think we created a great Flash application, a fun iPhone application, and simply the best BlackBerry drawing application on the market.
