Lookabooka is an entertainment social media network and shopping site. It’s also a project we picked up after other web developers gave it an unsuccessful try.
To preserve as much of Lookabooka’s investment, we continued working within the original framework of Social Engine, a PHP/Smarty-based product for rapid social-network site development. We extended this to incorporate more features, implementing the entire News module using a Django-based web service connected to APIs created by News Gator to mimic that site’s features.
In implementing Lookabooka’s vision, we also added a widget based user interface written in JavaScript to let users move page elements on the screen, including a controller to show, hide, and resize widget windows.
The coolest thing about this site is how it incorporates a number of different web and service-based technologies. The UI and page designs are unlike anything seen on typical websites, and provide a unique presentation for a user's experience.
