A vacation, and any journey worth taking, is a personal matter - now made even more so by iZento, a start-up The Nerdery was proud to help launch. Developed in Symfony with Google Maps galore, iZento has found a way to create tailored guides for travel agents and do-it-yourself travel planners.
Through the course of a year-and-a-half and multiple development phases, The Nerdery helped iZento create a one-stop-shop at which travelers can set an itinerary simply by entering their interests - and every whim - into a genetic algorithm that delivers a detailed itinerary of possibilities. Let's say Jane says she's going away to Spain to visit art museums, eat paella, drink red wine, and do some hiking for a week. iZento creates a personalized travel guide to do just that.
At several junctures during this project, we took time out to counsel our client on technical matters they'd been unfamiliar with, including Facebook Connect and Google Analytics. In each case, we pulled in the most knowledgeable Nerdery talent per subject to help iZento make the most informed decision possible. We also put together a detailed document with user experience recommendations for their consideration.
The Nerdery seamlessly managed multiple releases and phases of this project simultaneously, all the while merging it consistently into the same existing code base.
To manage this massive project, we established an online tracking system for bug reports and new feature requests. The level of trust we earned from our client was such that we have automatic clearance to handle any task we deemed at under 20 hours of labor. This keeps the project moving forward with an ever-expanding toolbox for travelers and travel agents.
