C# ASP.NET Developer - Minneapolis

The Nerdery is looking for a talented .NET developer skilled in many aspects of web development. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, always learning and willing to expand their horizons. While they may be a Microsoft evangelist, they are able to recognize when a different solution might be appropriate. They recognize that technologies and platforms trend and are able to adapt and pick up new and different technologies quickly. Candidates will be expected to code in C# using various Microsoft platform technologies, including ASP.NET, Silverlight, and others. They will also update and maintain HTML/CSS/JavaScript when called upon. Most importantly though, they embrace The Nerdery’s unique culture by sharing their knowledge and experience with our 200+ developer team through collaboration, group work and peer review. Conversely, they would be humbly ready to absorb The Nerdery goodness from the collective brain power of our amazing team.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of C#, application architecture and object-oriented design
  • Strong understanding of .NET 4.0 and the Microsoft technology platform
  • Strong understanding of ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Web Forms development
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server and at least one ORM (e.g., LINQ to SQL, NHibernate)
  • Solid foundation of Javascript and a major Javascript framework (e.g., jQuery, Prototype)
  • Solid foundation of semantic HTML and CSS
  • Solid foundation of .NET Webservices (ASP.NET Web Services, WCF)
  • Knowledge and advocate of best practices (standard naming conventions, architecture)

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or 4 years web development experience

Every Nerd Should Have:

  • General understanding of project management principles. (Agile, Iterative, Waterfall)
  • Familiar with version control. Nerd Cred: Subversion, Git and/or Mercurial
  • Familiar with QA and deployment processes
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment

Bonus:

  • Experience with Silverlight or WPF
  • Experience with Windows Phone 7 or .NET CF
  • Experience with TDD, BDD, DI, Moq, CMSes, API, or other TLAs
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Rackspace Cloud
  • Experience using NuGet and familiar with solid community libraries built on .NET
  • Experience with Visual Basic .NET, Visual C++ or F#
  • Experience with PHP, Ruby, Java, Objective-C or any other non-Microsoft platform language.
